The topic of discussion in most paddle huts these days is Berka's seminal work, The Winter Warriors. But for the working professional, finding time to study and practice his principles as set forth in sections on "the four noble truths" and "the eightfold path" is virtually impossible. Thus my effort to reduce the wisdom of the ages down to the most basic principle

Paddle is suffering.
 
The cause of suffering is our partner's unsufferable habit of losing points, er, rather the cause is our desire to be what we are not: good paddle players (i.e., models of patience mixing controlled aggression with thoughtless perfect shot selection and execution).
 
To achieve a state of Zen, we can sit in the lotus position as above and "be the ball."
 
Or we can follow the true path to wisdom...
